Advice on games from a movie site

A lot of this story (from primarily movie site CHUD) is preaching to the choir but I like how they put the argument down.

Galactic Attack!

28 04 2010

Wow where did you come from? Looks like Squareenix has just started answering prayers I havent even made yet. Raystorm HD is coming to XBLA. T he game will be available on XBLA on May 5 and on PSN on May 6. The weird thing is that its a Taito game and they dont really seem to have a problem releasing their own games. But whatever let us have it.

On a side note I have and still listen to the soundtrack for this. Love that first level music :D

Ten hours of mind rotting Robot Anime Intros!!!

30 03 2010

The Pantheon of Robotdom.

God Damn! If you got a few hours (10!) to watch some insane mechanized badassery this is for you! Someone, possibly god himself, compiled just about every into of the Robot genre into several, chronologically ordered, segments. I’ve only had enough time to watch a few hours (but it was at work while drunk) and godammit what a hoot. The funnest part of all is watching the evaluation of the animation and story. You can especially see why things like Gundam, Voltron and Macross made it to America, as they are stand outs amongst their contemporaries. I know its stupid long, but ten minutes a day will do your heart (or young child) some good.

A flurry of Mega Man 10 promotional videos

9 03 2010

by Steve

Megaman 10 is either almost out, out now or been out a while. I cant be bothered to look. Whatever the case may be it seems like this time it will be actually beatable, which is a plus since I gave up pretty quickly last round. It also continues with the “Its a long lost 8-bit game” concept that caused such a fuss with part 9.  Sticking with the nostalgia theme, Capcom has not only made another godawful cover for the game (Isn’t this a piece of Megaman history we should be ashamed of in America and want to forget?) as seen here:

Good God

I mean its kinda cool they took the joke this far. BUT they even went further and produced this amazing long lost commercial!

and damn, they went for the gusto with this one. Soooo many little touches, from the titles to the room to even the kid! Who knew there was such nostalgia for all the shitty attempts they used to market to us as kids. Still it had me cracking up.

Also rapper Random, AKA Mega Ran, a longtime Megaman loving rap artist released a song about Megaman 10 presumably with Capcoms blessing

Eh, its pretty catchy. Probably the best megaman related rap out there. Though its worth noting that the rapper Del tha Funky Homosapien, when refering to his future self Deltron for the album “Deltron 3030″ had this to say about megaman:

” I got the idea from “Megaman X” [the video game] because the regular “Megaman” was kind of round, cartoony. They souped him up to “Megaman X” and made him futuristic. I always thought that was a dope idea.”

which I thing deserves our continued respect.

Megaman 10 will be released….. I guess now it looks like for an unknown ammout of Wii Points, Xbox Gamer Points or Playstation Store “US currency”

We all fall down….

1 03 2010

… Like Toy Soldiers! Whoa where did this come from it looks fantastic. Joystiq take it away:

This week Toy Soldiers kicks off Microsoft’s month-long XBLA Block Party. While a tower defense game at its core, the game adds a small twist to the genre, allowing players to take control over individual towers and units. In other words, if you think your sniper tower is focusing on the wrong units, you can snap into first-person control and do something about it.

… Thanks! Im seriously digging the look of this game. It almost looks like tilt/shift  photography or something. And I absolutly ADORE the toybox look. I’m not sure what the multiplayer situation is but if it has one id sure as heck like to play it.

Since I cant get the video to show heres a video for “Toy Soldiers” from Martika to get everyone in the mood. What mood, im not sure….

I’m already pretty cool with French Electronica….

25 01 2010

… but they constantly feel the need to keep me interested.

As seen on Kotaku this morning, behold “Danger” a guy and/or group that completly nailed a time and look that ive been looking forward to be revived. As many video game news outlets have editorialized, lets move past this 8-bit nostalgia and dive into the 16-bit pool. Maybe this album will help with the kick off.

the upcoming EP, titled “09/17 2007″ comes out this month I see.
